South Africa, who will jointly host the next ODI World Cup in 2027 with Namibia and Zimbabwe, will be looking to start building steadily for the tournament, bleeding in newbies in the squad. Bavuma will be joined by Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, Matthew Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi, players who did not take part in the shortest format.

For Australia, veterans Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell have retired from the format which will turn to the experience of Marsh, Josh Hazlewood and Cameron Green for this series. They will, however, miss out on Spencer Johnson and Matt Short who are injured.
